This library and media nonprofit came to us with a visually disorienting and outdated website that didn’t clearly communicate who they serve and what their organization does for the community.
They wanted to create a modern experience, both in their brand visuals and website navigation, making it easy for patrons to donate, buy, and get involved with events, volunteer opportunities, and shopping at their local bookstores. We began with strategy and messaging work to guide the rebrand, and determined that they needed a distinct color palette, clearer and more strategic organization, and easy entry points for visitors to find what they’re looking for.
We explored three different brandscapes to help hone in on the most aligned look for them to bring the brand current:

Friends of the Library was immediately drawn to the boldness, jewel tones, and clean organization of the first brandscape, which translated into an easy-to-navigate website design.
We created simple yet distinct visual elements, such as cutout images on solid-colored backgrounds, sharp drop shadows, and simple linework and edges, to create cohesion. Clean icons and bold text help calls to action pop off the page, and visitors are easily directed to the best next step based on their goals and needs.
